我知道你在湖邊，一種
靜態中
陽光灑下，夾著雨
一絲，一絲
時間瞬息填滿整個湖
而湖是曖昧的
中間色，中間地帶
看不出表情
時間沒有表情
沒有任何一艘船，一隻雁
一朵薑花知道湖的深處
或者負荷
我不知道是你在尋找湖
或者湖尋找你

哈姆雷特（Hamlet）中，奧菲莉亞（Ophelia）的愛情在宮廷鬥爭之下淪為犧牲品。哈姆雷特為了替父報仇，不得不割捨奧菲莉亞的愛戀，而天真無邪的奧菲莉亞卻渾然不知，以為哈姆雷特跟以前一樣關心愛護著她，卻沒想到在他眼中只剩復仇。
後來，哈姆雷特誤殺了奧菲莉亞的父親，奧菲莉亞無法接受哈姆雷特的拒絕與父親的死亡而發瘋。她開始成天編織著花環，採野花，哼歌兒度日，最後墜河而亡。
哈姆雷特第四幕第七景：
她來到小河邊，爬上了楊柳樹，
要把那野花編織的花冠掛上傾斜的柳樹枝，
正爬到河面上，可恨那枝條卻折斷了，
她連人帶花掉進了嗚咽的溪流裡。
她的長裙鋪展在水面上，有那麼一會兒，
把她像美人於似的拖起來，
她只顧哼著一段又一段的民謠，
一點也不覺得自己落進險境了，
好像她本來就是水裡生，水裡長；
可是這漂浮在水面的情景長不了，
她的衣裙浸透了水，沉甸甸的，
把正唱著美妙歌兒的薄命人
拖進了死亡的泥潭
